1960's Terrace House Renovation

EJ Studio was appointed throughout the Feasibility, Concept, Detailed Design and Tender stages to re-imagine the interior design of this 1960’s terrace family home.

The house was poorly laid out prior to works being carried out, with a cramped, detached kitchen and plenty of under-utilised floor space. In opening up the majority of the ground floor, an open plan living-kitchen-dining space was created, which now benefits from a direct connection to the garden as well as increased natural light from a big picture window & slim-line sliding doors.

A key feature in the new scheme are the exposed beams, painted a bold coral colour to complement the cork flooring and off-black joinery elements, which include a wall of inbuilt shelving designed to break-up the entrance hallway and kitchen areas. The existing staircase was re-painted and re-imagined with new vertical timber balustrades and under-stair storage.

A generous utility and wc was created at the front of the house, as well as an entrance lobby storage area for coats and shoes. Upstairs the family bathroom was combined into a single room. Glazing was replaced throughout with Velfac aluminium-timber casement windows.
